1. Feedback from Angus Gold Conference
Generally, people enjoyed the day and learning what other groups are doing – it fairly gave them ideas for the Carnoustie group!
On the Older Persons’ Parliament debate, they felt that the age range is too wide. The needs of 50 year olds are very different from 80 year olds. Generally, they felt that your MP/MEP/MSP should be campaigning on your behalf regardless of age. Several of them had lobbied their MSP with positive results. They felt that groups and individuals could lobby more, and that this would be more effective than an Older People’s Parliament. They also would like to know more about what other group do to lobby on the older person debate – SOPAG?
2. Feedback from the drama performance – "Words are Never Wasted"
Raised awareness of mental health issues in the community. There was some discussion on the stigma of mental health and the need for people to be more understanding. The subject of creative writing about issues was discussed with the group keen to explore this further. Davina to discuss with Ann Craig. Possibly in February?
3. Feedback from Network Meeting
Dot and Avie fed back on a range of things that other groups have been involved in, and the Angus wide Projects.
4. Electrical Home Safety Conference 8 Dec 09
There was a request for helpers on the day to move people between workshops. Everyone was happy to help. Davina to send further info to the group.
