The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) service in Scotland is an independent network that helps people resolve money, legal and other problems. It provides information and advice - and influences government and organisations in bringing about changes in policy and law.

Most CAB staff are trained volunteers. Advice provided is free, independent, confidential, impartial, and available to everyone at more than 200 service points across Scotland

Adviceguide is the main public information service of CAB, providing people with online access to information on their rights - including benefits, housing and employment - and on debt, consumer and legal issues. This information is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year .

The Citizens Advice Bureau service aims to empower people by providing them with the information they need to solve their own problems and to signpost them to appropriate advice when necessary. Adviceguide helps people to have a better understanding of their rights and entitlements, and also to take the first steps in resolving their problems.

The information in the Adviceguide website is for general guidance on rights and responsibilities. Adviceguide also provides a range of fact sheets and information on employment problems in Arabic, Polish, Russian, Lithuanian and Portuguese.
